Life Or Not? July 26, 2012

Of all the places to hear something condemnatory of the mass shooting in Colorado last week or some form of commentary on such evil as a way to help form the consciences of parishoners, you would think that Sunday Mass would be the place. Not so, unfortunately, and not for the first time.
It’s a very sad thing to have a cowardly pastor. Someone who is so fearful of a bishop’s wrath that taking a stand for life is too frightening to do; or to express the will of the Church and the Lord in any situation is not part of his homily preparation. But fearful pastors abound, and left-leaning bishops are a dime a dozen.
So. Fathers and pastors, I’m embarrassed and sorry that you failed to even express sympathy for the survivors and the families of the heroes who gave their lives to protect others from the deranged monstrosity that occurred in that theater. I’m going to pray that you all find your gonads, and that your voice for the innocent will soon be heard. It would be really refreshing to hear from you something encouraging about those who stand up for LIFE in every situation, from conception to natural death. But, of course, that’s a pretty touchy subject for priests and pastors who fears the wrath of lazy, leftist bishops.
Come, Holy Spirit!

When priests present such a weak face to their congregations, they set such a low example that it is difficult to have a lot of hope for the American Church. This pastor has not mentioned abortion, euthanasia, or any pro-life topic in any homily that I have heard. We have, however, had a lot of his personal experiences, as well as some wandering whatevers from the permanent deacon. But the liturgy has been improved, by golly! Alaska is the most unchurched state in the Union. If this is any indicator of the Catholic presence, it’s no surprise.
I was quite surprised to find that our own pastor, normally a leftist hack, was eloquent on the subject. He didn’t talk about the poitics, he just asked us to pray for the people in question, and pray for the people who have troubled minds and hearts that they not turn into another murderor in this manner.
