I think my kids think I’m so cool that I will tolerate just about anything. Since they are all grown and gone from home, and none are under 30, it probably seems more likely than I’d like them to think. The truth is, I’m a firm believer in ladylike modesty. Mona Charen had a wonderful article on it that puts it quite well, quite briefly.

Today’s young ladies are, as she said, raised in a “trash culture.” They are and do as they live and are taught. Who teaches them? Parents. Teachers. Peers. Publications. Television and movies. Why do we persist in teaching our daughters that trashiness, vulgarity, and sexual innuendo are cute and stylish?

When I was a teenager, we had standards that were 180 degrees from what is acceptable today. When I look at the big shows on television–the ones that draw the biggest audiences, like CSI and Without A Trace, what do I see? Young women dressed for business…in scoop-necked tanks that reveal considerable cleavage and camisoles that can’t conceal nipples, under business jackets. The camis and tanks are cut so low and made of such clingy fabrics that there is little left to the imagination of any man in their company.

Since when have nips and cleavage been part of the “power outfit?” I’m sorry, but I don’t think it’s necessary to flash one’s half-bared bosom or strut one’s panty-lines through one’s tight skirt or slacks in order to get a promotion. If she is working for a boss who not only allows but encourages this kind of display in the workplace, a woman should find employment elsewhere, because that kind of exposure says “I’m easy. Want a one-night stand?” I can just imagine the feelings of the husband of a woman who wears that kind of teasing, sexy clothing to a place of business.

Some things, such as cleavage and everything it might lead to, are better left to the imagination, and teenaged virgins have no business running around with their underpants showing above trashed-out bluejeans that barely clear their pubic area, or wearing tanktops that show navels, made of material that reveals everything from nipples to goosebumps.

It’s all in the packaging. What’s the label on your daughter’s teenaged body? Does it say, “Cheap and easy?” Perhaps it’s time for mothers to try to regain some sort of control over their daughters’ wardrobes. At least go shopping with them, and for Heaven’s sake, Mom, don’t be afraid to set an example.

Borg™ Warning November 26, 2011

The left is all in for “protecting the rights of minorities,” but they keep leaving out the smallest and most important minority of all — the INDIVIDUAL. It’s no accident the Marxists/Leninists refer to people as “the masses.” Robbing a person of his individuality is a sure way to break his spirit, which is what the utopianists must have in order to prevail. It’s a sad ruler who must have a kingdom full of broken wills, but the Marxists realize that leaving any individual will intact is inviting challenges to their authority.

America has 235 years or so of unbroken individualism. During that time, we have seeded freedom around the world, much to the chagrin of the utopianists. Our individual minds are always willing to work together, but never confuse cooperation with melding.

We now teeter on the brink of disaster for our uniquely American individualism. The cabal in power is determined to break as many wills as it is possible to break, even if it means referring to individuals as “units.” Any weapon against a free mind is useful to a tyrant, who won’t be satisfied until the last unique mind has been assimilated, like the Borg in the Star Trek series, a mass-mind of dehumanized people who had their individual minds and wills assimilated into the will of the Borg, just as their bodies were wired into the system to provide “external sensors.” The Borg was the most chilling of the adversaries of the Starship “Enterprise,” and the most difficult to defeat. Their pronouncement to humans they intended to overwhelm was, “We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.”

With the current administration, America is in danger of becoming assimilated into a mindless anthill of groupthink and acquiescence, into the ominous cubical hive of the Borg, unable to formulate a single independent, useful thought.

Listening to the pathetic OWSers as they try to express something comprehensible to interviewers is a perfect illustration. The same buzzwords, the same slogans, the same expressions come out of each of the humorless mouths of deliberately dirty and unkempt creatures in these OWServilles. You only need to listen to one interview, because all the rest of them will say the same things. Wasted minds, wasted health, wasted fortune (usually from the parents of these Borg), all on parade in the pathetic “occupations” of the cities. (Aside…How bright do you have to be to begin a camp-out on concrete at the beginning of winter weather?)

Americans still in control of their minds will see the danger we face, and do something against it. Resistance is NOT futile. It is imperative.

Here’s a goodie from my archives: “Letterboy’s Perverted Fantasies”, which, if I do say so myself, is pretty good, too.

Cheering The Vandals November 22, 2011

Six days a week, I have to shake my head and heave a mighty sigh at the headlong, determinedly anti-American actions of this government, especially its leader. On the seventh day, I just fall down laughing at what a mockery/travesty/farce of stupidity he and his henches (I’m NOT going to put “henchPEOPLE” in here anywhere!) foist on the voters. It simply amazes me that they are so brazen in their usurpations of power and authority, and their obvious movements to undo 230 years of American freedom in just three years. Unfortunately, it’s not funny. It’s deadly serious. We are in deep bleep these days.

I know I’m not alone. I know there are millions of people just like me who are tempted to stand staring open-mouthed at the destruction being caused by the people this administration has sent in to dismantle American history, justice, economics, education, and freedom. I am sure I can say without fear of contradiction that millions of us are aghast at what we see being perpetrated before our very eyes.

The problem we face isn’t so much that we see it. The problem is that the mainstream press REFUSES to see it. Or, if they do, they are so absolutely sold out to the Left in this country, they will never report a word of the destruction of everything that has made them wealthy and famous, and made America great for two centuries.

Instead, the presstitutes cheer on the vandals and barbarians who are dead-set on destroying our world and rendering us all paupers, and they are trying to hurry up and get it done before the general population wakes up and realizes they’ve been had by sly experts masquerading as bumbling dolts and ignorant tax-cheats who have no business even finding the building, let alone signing any binding policy in the departments they are selected to lead.

“Any government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take it away from you.”

This time of year, there’s a lot of scurrying around as people get ready to welcome the “Holidays.” “Holidays” is an all-encompasing term that refers to the period between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. A whole lot of cooking takes place in the next month or so, and in the spirit of that flurry of preparation, I send you a handy little holiday meal planner. Browse and enjoy! (To tell you the truth, a couple of those recipes made my mouth remember!)

The Longest Word November 19, 2011

When I was a kid, we used to take great pride in knowing the word, “antidisestablishmentarianism.” We were told it was the longest word in the dictionary, and we used it for everything whenever we could squeeze it into a conversation.

Then, as I got older, I learned some interesting thing about the dictionary (One would only make these discoveries by being the kind of individual who spent time perusing the dictionary recreationally). One of them was this: If you want to read the dictionary but keep getting bogged down somewhere around “antidisestablishmentarianism,” I suggest you start from the back. I learned that by doing this, I could find words I never knew existed, and the definitions were sometimes real challenges. For instance, the definition of the word “zygotene” made me look up nearly every word in the definition. So I memorized it. it’s the “synaptic stage in meiosis in which two homologous chromosomes pair intimately.” Don’t ask.

Another thing I learned was that the real longest word was the name of a lung disease:
“pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.” This is not something one would want to hear from one’s doctor, or to have to tell your worried family about, let along have written on one’s medical chart. (Doctors’ handwriting being what it is rumored to be, at any rate…)

What does any of this have to do with anything going on today? Only this: Today, we are learning the hard lessons because we didn’t spend enough time in the Book to even think of peeking at the ending. We are still stuck around “portico” or “versimilitude,” while our opponents have cheated, skipped a whole bunch of the book, and are clear up by “zygotene.”

One of the signs of their hubris (look it up, if you like) is they have a false optimism. The end of the real Book says they lose big time, but to hear them tell it, they will have the upper hand forever. We need to look at the end of the Book, and see that it is US who WIN. No wonder the opposition is so busy crowing and bragging now. They are hiding the fact that they are going to be defeated decisively. They know it, especially if they see the failure of their ideology everywhere else it’s been tried. They know it. They can’t escape the reality. Like the atheists, they are the ones who must take the giant leap of faith. But it won’t do them much good. The end will come, and they will lose.

It might not be in our lifetimes, but it will happen, and it will be forever. We get to WIN. They get to LOSE. Short words. But they are the whole story.

Waiting November 19, 2011

All of us started out exactly alike.

Most of us managed to live through all that to become, say, little kids, waiting for Christmas…

I know it’s just a commercial, but it’s probably one of the best ones I’ve seen in years. When did we change from being the kind of people who can hardly wait to give a gift into the kind of people who are sure they deserve more?

…and many babies don’t get to make it that far, if you get my drift. Next Sunday, the 27th, the Church starts the Period of Waiting, or Advent.

I wonder what to give the Baby Jesus on His birthday…?

Bringing Us Down November 18, 2011

For the last fifty years, the Marxists in this country (and their financial backers around the world) have been biding their time, waiting for the perfect moment to strike at the beating economic heart of America. Slowly but surely, they have eased one player after another into place, patiently putting up with setbacks and drawing back their hands during the terms of presidents like Ronald Reagan. But they kept their eyes on the prize, and they waited and watched, accumulating money, influence, and confidence as they sat on their webs like patient, chess-playing spiders. Gently but persistently, they moved their players into place, and waited.

Their patience paid off in the 2008 election, and they struck. As soon as the results of the election were in, they began making their moves. Remarks to the press, the appearance of “The Office of the President-Elect,” and other not so subtle hints of what was in store for the country gave those of us who were watching the sinking feeling we feared.

Within days of the inauguration, they left no doubt about their real plans for America, as they darted in like wolves, slashing and hamstringing industry and commerce, the engines that keeps America strong, prosperous, and free. One after another, they toppled the legs of the economy: Banking, manufacturing, enterprise, energy, and personal wealth. Without caring that they were actually killing the very economy that could have paid for all their grandiose plans, they struck, and struck again. For them, the game was just a means to an end. They had their eyes on the prize: An America brought to its knees by the Socialist powers that be. There’s a reason the current resident has refused to allow Ohio to let bids on oil/gas leases this week. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

Without a qualm for any of their illegal activity, they simply did an end-run around the Constitution and did what they had planned to do all along, not caring if laws were broken or ignored. They know that there are two things that stand between them and total victory: The First and Second Amendments. As for the first, they already have the national media in their pockets, eagerly cheerleading and supporting everything the Socialists do to bring the United States to heel. But they don’t have control of voices of patriots like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Dennis Prager, Mark Levin, and Michael Reagan, and that drives them wild with rage.

That’s where the new, revised “Fairness Doctrine” comes in. Under this plan, the voices on the right must be countered by voices on the left, and paid for by the owners of the radio stations that carry the shows. It won’t be long before the radio stations will be tired of absorbing the costs of allowing the “equal time,” and will simply hand the conservative speakers their walking papers, leaving the information field to the leftists.

The same goes for the Second Amendment, the right of the people to keep and bear arms. This is so crucial that they are going to be very, very subtle about how they go about undermining this one. They would have to be blind not to see that citizens are buying arms and ammunition with every spare dollar they can scrape up. The left has a plan to require firearm registration of all privately-owned weapons built into the so-called “stimulus” package. They’ll need lots of luck with that one.

It’s very hard to write something like this without sounding hysterical. But the facts remain, and the truth is right in front of our noses. It’s very obvious by now that America is being brought down from inside. Busy keeping watch on the outside for foreign enemies, we forgot to watch for the “…enemies, domestic.” We have a vow to fulfill and a mission to complete.

These are frightening times for Conservatives, who still have a clear knowledge of the Constitution, if not in their minds, at least in the texts themselves. We would all do well to get copies of the founding documents, and to read them thoroughly and commit at least the Bill of Rights to memory. Remember what Rush says:

Don’t listen to what they say, WATCH what they do.
