Good Friday Quake-1964–Update March 27, 2011
Posted by lizp4 in Uncategorized.trackback

Today is the forty-seventh anniversary of the great Good Friday earthquake here in Alaska. At the time, they said it was was an 8.4 magnitude on the Richter Scale, but it has since been revised upwards to 9.2, and shook the area for nearly seven minutes. It generated a monstrous tsunami, and killed over 100 people in Alaska alone.
UPDATE 3/27/2012: This is the 48th anniversary of the Great Alaska Quake. It’s hard to believe how many years have passed since that cataclysmic day. Survivors still react with terror and anxiety when they feel another shake. One of these in a lifetime is more than sufficient. May we never have another such, please God.
