Let me see if I have this right:

1. Let’s say Mrs. BO Sr. delivers a child in Kenya in 1961 I had a baby in 1961, too. But suppose Mrs. O wasn’t 21 years old yet. Well, that’s not a problem. I was 18 when I had my baby in 1961, so that’s no big thing. But if Mrs. O was underage and delivers a baby in a foreign country while she is underage, she might not be able under the law to confer US citizenship on that child because of her minority.

2. That would make her child a Kenyan national, of British citizenship. This is all common knowledge.

3. But if she subsequently divorced the child’s father and met, married and moved with an Indonesian Muslim to Indonesia; and there the child was adopted by the Indonesian, that stepchild would then have lost the British-Kenyan citizenship and become an Indonesian citizen. And, since we can only speculate, perhaps the child WASN’T born in Kenya, but actually delivered in Jakarta, with the stepfather’s name on the birth certificate…

4. If the mother and child then moved to Hawaii, where his existence/birth was registered with Hawaiian Vital Statistics for purposes of school enrollment, etc., and the mother not only neglected to reinstate her own US citizenship, but failed to get her child naturalized in the process, the child would remain an Indonesian citizen, although he would have the birth-certification that Hawaii hands out to non-Hawaiian or non-US children for reasons of school enrollment and eligibility for other priveleges.

5. So, if an American girl has a Kenyan/British baby and takes it to Indonesia, then brings it to Hawaii, but fails to naturalize that little guy, is he eligible for the highest office in the land? The birth certificate isn’t what is necessary at this point. The proof of CITIZENSHIP is. The Kenyan-American child naturalized in Indonesia probably still retains an Indonesian passport somewhere.

It’s too late, in any case. Barring gross malfeasance in office, the current election result is going to stand. SCOTUS will not attempt to prove legitimacy at this late date. The fix is in.

What’s REALLY Important In Washington…

…and it AIN’T the will of the people!

Have you noticed that politicians in Washington bust their butts trying to get themselves elected by the voters? Of course you have. They rush around speechifying, promising everybody the moon with frosting on it, and generally act like the misfit sophomore trying to find a clique that will have them. Then, after they woo, court, invite, and beg every possible vote and perhaps find themselves elected, they wind up in Washington ignoring everything their constituents want. Doesn’t matter what it is, the politicians then bust their butts in the other direction trying to avoid everything to do with the folks back home and what THEY want.

How sad for this once-free country that elected officials hold the founding principles and the will of the electorate in such low regard. It makes one wish that no person could be returned to office more than once. Accountability and term limits are absolutely unheard of today in politics, but they are among the only solutions to this quandary. What a pity that elected officials are so often scumsucking bottom-feeders. If they aren’t that way when we elect them, they sure turn out that way as soon as they hang up their coats and hats and settle in. It doesn’t take long in Washington to turn otherwise-honest representatives into slimy mucksuckers like their sleazy superiors.

I don’t generally lump people into groups they aren’t already admitting to, like religious affiliation or ethnicity. But so many politicians are LAWYERS these days that it sure makes me wonder just what the attraction is for the bad lawyers to force their way into elected office. Is it because they can’t get any honest work? The field must be pretty crowded these days. Everybody seems to have some idea that if a person wants to go into politics, they have to be lawyers first. So, it must be the siren song of power. They are so obsessed with it that they will claw their way into politics to manipulate, steal, manufacture, and purchase votes to get themselves re-elected repeatedly, and keep pushing upward toward that office they believe holds all the power.

Time was, back around the founding of this nation, that the office of President was such a lowly position that people had to be begged to stand for it. Then, once they were in, they could hardly wait to get out of it and back home again, and it was a simple job compared to what confronts any successful candidate nowadays. Elected representatives worked for one term, then got on their horses and rode back home to their farms, glad to put the stench of Washington behind them. They paid their own expenses and their salaries while in office were so low that most times, it was a serious paycut. Most of them hurried to return to their farms before they were put out of business.

The more I see of what’s going on in Washington these days, the less respect I have for either political party. The current crop of elected officials contains so many crooks and sidewinders that HARDLY ONE PIECE OF CONSTRUCTIVE LEGISLATION HAS PASSED THROUGH GOVERNMENT IN THE LAST EIGHT YEARS. Think about that. Today’s crop of status-seeking suckups is nauseating in its craven stampede for privelege and attention. Every piece of legislation passed is stuffed like a Christmas goose with setasides, special projects, entitlements, and still more and more pork.

The “Blue Dog Democrats” in Congress are all set to cave in to the demands of the leftist side of their party to force a vote before the recess on the vile, excrable, destructive, evil “health care” bill the leftists want to get voted on before the August recess. The Democrats KNOW that if the representatives go home before a vote, the electorate will DEMAND they vote against the bill, no matter what the party affiliation. This can mean only one thing: THE WISHES OF THEIR CONSTITUENTS ARE NOT IMPORTANT TO THE REPRESENTATIVES IN WASHINGTON.

Folks, this is such a bad situation that I can’t even find the words to properly describe it. We are in such deep doodoo that it is going to take a sovereign move of God to set this country back on the right track and keep it there. Without it, we stand to lose everything achieved by the founders and patriots who have gone before us; every valiant Doughboy, GI, Swabbie, Gyrene, Flyboy, and Coastie who shed blood for America’s freedom in the last five wars; all the dedicated, heroic, and BLESSED active-duty personnel now serving will have sacrificed in vain.

What are our options? (Note: Wishful thinking follows…)

1. THROW THE BUMS OUT! Term limits/hiring freezes on everybody.

2. PAY FREEZES in all levels of government.

3. STRICT THIRD-PARTY AUDITS in all departments and levels of public office.

4. FORCE EQUAL ACCOUNTABILITY UNDER THE LAW, WITH PROSECUTION FOR ALL CRIMINAL ACTIVITY, regardless of the position OR POWER of the perpetrator.

5. Find HONEST Judges. This is why LAWYERS are such crooks. They want to be judges so they can “make policy” from the bench. Terrifying.

Folks, check the background of all your candidates. If they are lawyers, DO NOT VOTE FOR THEM, no matter how good they SEEM.

To any lawyers who might accidentally read this post: If any of this makes you angry, it’s probably because you are part of the problem. If you seek office and want people to trust you enough to vote for you, clean up your act. Confess, do time, pay fines, if necessary, and PROVE to the voters that you are decent and honest and willing to be held to account for your behavior.

The last thing we need in Washington is MORE DAMNED CROOKS.

Waiting For The Other Shoe

Amendment XXII:

Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

If you were wondering what was going to signal the end of American sovereignty, I would say the attempt to repeal this amendment will be the lantern in the churchtower. It will come, not with shots and blood and battlefield victories, but with a simple passage of a new law: The 22nd Amendment will be abrogated quietly, probably in one of those famous midnight votes, and the fix will be in. Since this administration thinks the Constitution is toilet paper anyway, they will ignore all the Constitutional requirements for amendment, like 39 states voting to pass, etc.

State-Sanctioned Ghouls

The current resident and his flying monkeys have come up with a cute little thing called the “end of life counselor.” This ghoul’s job will be to encourage — every two to five years — the old people in this country to consider checking themselves into a hospice to die. (I wonder at which point these “counselors” simply mark one’s file as “Terminate” just because they are tired of talking…)

This might sound “humane” on the surface, but in reality, it is the left’s quaint way of removing “useless eaters” and “drains on the healthcare economy” and making room for healthier, younger, less-needy drones. The fewer old people sucking up the Social Security budget and draining off medical care resources that should be going to young people, the better.

By and large, most Americans will tolerate a considerable amount of abuse from their governments, state and federal. They expect a certain amount of cupidity, greed, moral turpitude, and downright incompetence in their politicians, believing rightly that such characteristics simply go with the power of any elected office. But it’s not safe to say that they will put up with an endless barrage of abuse, taxation, defamation, usurpation of rights and freedoms, or forced compliance.

Apparently, this administration got a wrong signal somewhere and has determined that “Go fast early!” applies to taxation and destruction of economic health just as well as it does to cheering on the high-powered tractor-pulls at the State Fair.

Hoping to cram this dreck down our throats before we figure out what’s in it, they have twice pulled this trick in the last six months, first with the $780 billion Porkulus bill (“We just wanted to pick a great big number because it’s more impressive!”), then the House version of the Crap and Tax bill. If “once burned, twice shy” or “a burned child fears the fire” would be apt in this situation, one has to wonder if there might not be a good reason why the electorate is inundating the Capitol switchboards and email accounts with demand that this STUPID, DESTRUCTIVE, and PUNITIVE legislation not be passed.

Something occurred to me today as I pondered the proposed legislation, something not surprising but especially disturbing: By removing the old people from the population of this country, the left can simplify its takeover. The reasoning is simple: In Bolshevik Soviet days, all able-bodied individuals were required to work in the fields after the bosses killed off all the landowners (“Kulaks”) and siezed the farms as State-owned enterprises. The only people not required to work the fields were the elderly who were healthy but ancient. They, the Politburo decided, could to the job of caring for the children of the people who worked the fields. It turned out that there was only one flaw in this plan: The old babuskas still retained their faith in God. And, as the sole care-providers for young children, they passed this faith along in secret, providing hope and faith for the times ahead, and keeping Christianity alive in secret.

But, having learned this lesson, the leftist powers now seek to remove the last of the “Greatest Generation:” the patriots and those who memorized the Preamble, the Bill of Rights, or the Gettysburg Address. By seeking out and eliminating these old patriots, the left can proceed with the dumbed-down rabble of willing victims and have their way with what will be left of the Shining City on a Hill.

Meteorological Musings

Makes me think I picked a reeeeeeeely bad time to move back to Alaska…

We had a record-heat temperature on July 5, 92.5 F. It’s hard to believe that two weeks later, we are basking in the same kind of chilly temperatures that we suffered through all last “summer.” (Last year was one of those especially bad summers. The temperature, day in and day out couldn’t seem to get above 55 degrees. We had rain for a week at a time, more like Juneau and Ketchikan than what we should be getting in Southcentral. So it was a wonderful surprise this spring when June turned into one of those luscious months of perfect temperature/humidity that happen along so rarely that we scurry to dig out our cotton shirts and shorts, root through the shoe box for the flipflops we haven’t been able to wear for two years, and hie ourselves outdoors for any reason whatsoever, even if it’s just to watch the neighbor kids playing with the Super-Soakers. It was wonderful. Even the cloudy days were warm and comfy.

Years ago in the early days of TV in Alaska, there was RATNET, or “Rural Alaska Television Network.” It gave us two channels, part time. One was a selection of top shows from the major networks, strung together and separated by incredibly bad local commercials and local announcements, and the other was the educational station from the University of Alaska, which gave us such gems as Tony Brown’s Journal and Aviation Weather. The weather show turned out to be one of our favorites, and we tried hard not to miss it.

Aviation Weather is still on the educational station here, and it still provides all of us who care to pay attention a very well-rounded education into meterorological Alaska. We teacher’s pets and know-it-alls who paid attention now know “occluded fronts” when we see them on the map. We know what “isobars” are. We know that a big red “L” in the Gulf of Alaska, combined with a big blue “H” over Fairbanks is going to squeeze those isobars together and create some VERY windy conditions. We know that icing on airplane wings can occur at any time of year when conditions are just right, and that winds aloft seldom blow in the same direction or at the same speed as the breezes on the ground.

Unfortunately, having all this esoteric knowledge does very little to solve the weather problems we are enduring at present, except for this: The big red “L” that was stalled over the Kenai Peninsula for the last week looks like it might be deteriorating, and that might let a blue “H” materialize, MAYBE in time for the Governor’s Picnic on the 31st.

So, I guess we’ll just check our creaking joints, wet our fingers and hold them up, and see how fast the milk curdles, so we’ll know whether to bring umbrellas or sunscreen to the picnic. (I’m not much of an optimist when it comes to Alaskan weather. I think I’ll take both, just in case…)
