A Small Ray Of Hope February 10, 2009

I was looking for some information on Porkzilla this morning, and came across a few links to pages that go into some detail about the bear traps and pungee sticks waiting for us if this thing passes as it stands. To wit:

health care in Porkzilla:

more health care here, as well as some other goodies.

And that’s not all. Take a look what else is hidden in there…

We are so screwed. I’m trying really, really hard to stay optimistic about this mess, but it’s getting difficult to see much to be optimistic about. Little things abound, of course, but the big picture is one filled with an ignorant, poorly-prepared electorate, abetted by unrestrained ACORN’s special brand of vote fraud; lazy, “gimme my welfare/crazy/disability/grant, student loan check NOW” who have no idea of the source of the largesse handed out by the politicians to buy their votes. I see a mushrooming, ham-handed and oafish government, barely able to creak along under its own weight; bulging, topheavy bureaucracies, and petty tyrants in office who have NO intention of working in the best interests of their constituents, and just enough juice to keep getting themselves elected. I see mossbacks in the Senate who have been there longer than my grown kids have been alive. I see deranged and pathetic ignoramuses with shady doings in their personal lives in very high office, who HAVE to be stupid or crazy to persist in the kinds of things they are trying to force us to accept, or else they are crooks in on the swindle. I see debauched personal behavior and criminal activity in the House among the participants in the Fanny/Freddie scandal who are still actually in positions of power in agencies dealing with — what else?? — the disbursement of other people’s money.

But, you are right. Now is not the time to go all wobbly. And, there are a few good signs here and there. Whether they will do us any good or not is another thing. But, apparently, the switchboards in Washington are recording responses that are running strongly — very strongly — against the bill, with “No!” calls outweighing the “Yes.” votes by several HUNDREDS (not just a hundred) to one. The people do NOT want this evil bill.

Another good sign is the number of states who are standing on the 10th Amendment regarding States’ Rights and the rights of the People.

“AMENDMENT X”
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the People.”

A number of State legislatures have passed resolutions to this effect, basically stating that they have the right and duty to REFUSE to conform to any Federal order if the People of those states do not wish such conforming to occur.

A small ray of hope.
